International Women’s Day at Ruby

At Ruby Energy, we’re proud to recognise the women who help drive our business forward every day.

This International Women’s Day, and we’re shining a light on Paula, whose journey through the company shows how determination, support, and strong leadership can shape a rewarding career in energy.

Can you tell me a bit about your role and what a typical day looks like for you?

My journey with Ruby Energy began nine years ago when I joined as a Customer Service Advisor.

From there, I moved into the complaints team, progressing to Senior Complaints Handler and then Team Leader.

After that, I moved into SPA, where I became SPA Team Leader, before moving into my current role as Operations Manager for the Complaints Team.

There isn’t a typical day for me as things can vary quite a bit, but a big part of my role focuses on supporting the team. That includes one to one meeting, carrying out performance reviews and making sure every has the support they need.

What’s your favourite part of the job day to day?

My favourite part of the day is motivating the team and seeing them achieve their goals.

It’s especially rewarding when we’re able to resolve a complaint and make things right for the customer.

Is there a moment in your career that stands out as a particularly proud achievement?

One proud moment has to be when we climbed the Complaints Industry League table from 17th to 8th.

It was a great example of what can be achieved when all teams across the business work together.

Have there been any women who have inspired you throughout your career, and what advice would you give to other women considering a career in energy?

Definitely. Female leaders have inspired me throughout my career by pushing me to keep developing, helping me stay focused on my goals, and always being supportive along the way.

The advice I would give to other women thinking about working in energy or operations is to go for it! Believe in yourself and keep pushing as nothing is impossible.  That’s something I’ve learned from the great leaders who’ve supported me throughout my career.

This International Women’s Daywe’re proud to celebrate Paula and the many women across Ruby Energy who continue to support their teams, build their careers, and make a difference every day.
