At Ruby, we’re big believers in shaping a better future, not just through renewable energy, but by supporting the next generation of local talent too. As one of the largest employers on the Fylde Coast, we know how important it is to open doors for young people and give them real insight into the world of work.
Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming Owen, 14, from a local school, for a two-week work experience placement. From day one, Owen got stuck in with the team, getting a feel for how we work and how energy and technology come together behind the scenes.
“I’ve enjoyed my work experience, it’s been super cool seeing how different software works,” said Owen.
It’s safe to say, we loved having him around. His curiosity, enthusiasm and eagerness to learn reminded us why we do what we do—and how important it is to keep investing in the people who’ll drive the energy transition forward.
Stacey Irving, our Customer Experience Director, said:
“The next generation will play a vital role in the renewable energy transition, which is why it’s so important that we support local schools through meaningful work experience opportunities. It helps local young people see what’s possible and where they can make a difference.”
We couldn’t let Owen leave without a bit of a Ruby send-off. As the official energy partner of Fleetwood Town FC, we wrapped up his experience with a FTFC goodie bag—including match tickets, a kit, and a rather brilliant bucket hat (which he clearly loved).
